    Scott Kelby Digital Photography Book

The Digital Photography Book book. Read reviews from the world's largest community for readers. This text tackles the most important side of digital. To start the conversation I thought I'd post a reader review of The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby. This review was left in our forums by forum member. This is it the #1 best-selling digital photography book ever! It's the award-winning, worldwide smash hit, written by Scott Kelby, that's been translated into dozens.

This entire book is written with a brilliant premise, and here's how Scott describes it: "If you and I were out on a shoot, and you asked me, 'Hey, how do I get this flower to be in focus, but I want the background out of focus? That's what this book is all about. A book of you and I shooting, and I answer the questions, give you advice, and share the secrets I've learned just like I would with a friend, without all the technical explanations and without all the techno-photo-speak. Here's another thing that makes this book different: each page covers just one trick, just one single concept that makes your photography better. Every time you turn the page, you'll learn another pro setting, another pro tool, another pro trick to transform your work from snapshots into gallery prints. There's never been a book like it, and if you're tired of taking shots that look "OK," and if you're tired of looking in photography magazines and thinking, "Why don't my shots look like that? An essential series for anyone wanting to take professional looking images. Scott serves as training director for the Adobe Photoshop Seminar Tour and is the technical chair of the largest Photoshop gathering in the industry, Photoshop World.

All in all I recommend these books to anyone who is getting into digital photography or may want to learn to get more out of their photography.

The Digital Photography Book (Volume 1) by Scott Kelby

Be warned however that if you buy or want to buy some of the gear suggested n the book it could cost you a pretty penny! I have no interest in portrait or sports photography, so I feel like I'm just breezing past those whole chapters and am left wanting more of the categories that I am interested in.

Even though I still found some helpful hints in this book, I will probably skip A good reference book from Scott Kelby as always, but I'm starting to wish that his volumes were broken down into categories - one for nature, one for portraits, one for sports, etc - rather than giving a smattering of each in each volume.

Even though I still found some helpful hints in this book, I will probably skip Volume 4 unless I can find it for free at the local library. Lots of stuff I know, but some interesting perspective on things I hadn't considered or had experience with, and good reminders.

Some might not enjoy his tone but I don't mind it. Definitely a good resource for pro-ish photographers. It's one of those books I would like to have on hand to h This guys writing will drive you nuts at the beginning because he is constantly joking. It's one of those books I would like to have on hand to have as a reference or learning companion as I continue to progress in digital photography.

Extremely helpful. I would recommend this book to beginners or anyone who doesn't have a clue when it comes to lighting, how far you should stand from your subject, what height to shoot from, or if you want to learn professional techniques. I would not recommend this book to professionals--you can have the complicated-wording books.

Scott Kelby's Digital Photography Boxed Set, Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 (Kobo eBook)

I have been shooting my pictures in auto and without a tripod for way too long. I have a basic understanding of photoshop, but I was ready to begin understanding my Nikon, and stop shooting in auto or a preset. This book got me hooked, I have a better understanding of aperture, shutterspeed, ISO, and white balance--as well as a better understanding of all of the "tools" out there to use.

You need to correct that ASAP! Hi Scott, I own all 5 already.

I love the way you use your intellect and sense of humor to get your point across without boring the heck out of folks!! You Da Man!!!
